Amica Life launches automated tele-underwriting process with MRS, Inc.

BROOKFIELD, Wis., June 06, 2014 – Management Research Services, Inc. (MRS) has successfully launched a comprehensive, highly automated tele-underwriting system with Amica Life Insurance Company. The process allows MRS’s highly customizable platform to integrate with Amica Life’s customer relationship management, underwriting, policy administrative and imaging systems.

This unique undertaking supports full underwriting featuring a seamless electronic “hot” transfer from the Amica Life sales representative to the expert interview team at MRS. At the conclusion of the interview, the completed application and all state-specific forms are immediately delivered to the proposed insured for e-signatures. Once signed, the images and data are delivered back to the Amica Life systems. Often, it is only a matter of hours from sales representative to underwriter. Completion of the medical history by MRS allows Amica Life sales representatives more time to focus on completing sales.

“Since implementing MRS’s tele-underwriting process, Amica Life sales has transformed the time we previously spent completing applications and forms into more sales time,” said Gary Bilotti, an officer at Amica Life. “This not only positions us well to meet our growth objectives, but also provides an excellent overall customer experience – starting with hot transferring the client and concluding with e-signature of all forms.”

Improved medical history was one of the primary goals of the project. Carefully created and condition-specific medical questions provide the Amica Life underwriter with a clear understanding of risk factors in a well-organized, consistent manner.

“In the weeks since implementing MRS’s tele-underwriting into our application process, Amica Life has already seen a significant reduction in not-in-good-order packages,” said Lori Waterman, an officer at Amica Life. “We are receiving very detailed medical histories, allowing us to order fewer attending physician statements. MRS is not only sending complete, signed application documents directly to our imaging system, but they are also uploading the new business into our underwriting administration system.”
